Cambodian Senate President Extends Profound Sorrow Following Destructive Earthquake in Southwest China
AKP Phnom Penh, January 08, 2025 — Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on Jan. 8 sent a condolence message to H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China over the deadly earthquake in Xizang Autonomous Region.
“I am deeply saddened after learning of the massive destruction, including a loss of many lives, injuries, damage to properties and infrastructure, caused by a powerful earthquake in the Xizang Autonomous Region in the southwest of the People's Republic China,” he wrote in his message.
“In this time of profound sorrow, on behalf of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia and my own behalf, I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences and sympathy to you and, through you, to the families of the victims, the Government, and the people of the People's Republic of China for these loses. May the deceased rest in peace, and I wish for a swift and complete recovery of the injured,” he added.
A 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on Jan. 7, leaving hundreds dead and injured.
