AKP Phnom Penh, January 10, 2025 --
The construction of a China-funded bridge across the Mekong River in Kratie province was 77.04 percent complete as of December 2024, and it would be put into temporary use at the end of this year.
The update was shared on Jan. 9 by H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information and Head of the Royal Government Working group for Kratie Province.
The over US$100 millilon bridge, linking Talus village of Chetr Borei district’s Bos Leav commune to Prek Prasop district’s Thmar Reap village, is part of a project which also includes two medium bridges, a short bridge, and a road connecting NR7 to NR60B, he said, adding that whole project has now been achieved at around 53 percent.
The 1,761-metre-by-13.5-metre bridge, along with a 31.69-kilometre-long connecting road and crossroads, has been being built by the Shanghai Construction Group for a period of 42 months. The construction is financed by a loan from the People’s Republic of China.
The 7th-mandate Royal Government of Cambodia is committed to further investing in significant infrastructure projects ranging from deep-sea ports and international airports to roads and railways.
