U.S. Embassy Hosts Regional Young Leaders Summit in Phnom Penh
AKP Phnom Penh, January 11, 2025 --
The U.S. Embassy in Cambodia hosts the first Regional Young Southeast Asia Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Civic Engagement Alumni Summit in Phnom Penh from Jan. 9 to 12.
The regional workshop comes as Cambodia and the United States kick off a year-long celebration of their 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, according to the embassy's chargé d’affaires, Ms. Bridgette L. Walker.
The summit convenes 175 youth from across ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste to exchange ideas, learn from each other on models for community participation, and collaborate on local and regional civic work projects.
The forum will also provide experiential learning opportunities through site visits at the U.S. Embassy, Cambodian government offices, and civic and social enterprise organisations throughout Phnom Penh.
Launched in 2013, YSEALI is the U.S. government’s signature programme to strengthen leadership development and networking in Southeast Asia, having grown to 155,000 regional members.
