AKP Phnom Penh, January 17, 2025 --

A new species of gecko called “Hemiphyllodactylus Khpoh” has been found at Phnom Khpoh area in Battambang northwestern province.

Dubbed the Khpoh slender gecko, it was discovered during a joint biodiversity research project between the Fauna & Flora’s Cambodia team, the Ministry of Environment’s staff, and a group of expert herpetologists led by La Sierra University.

The gecko was confirmed as a new species based on morphological and molecular data, as well as its isolation from other geckos in this genus.
