Spokesperson: Air Quality in Cambodia is Generally Moderate
AKP Phnom Penh, January 24, 2025 --
Based on air quality data from 60 air quality monitoring devices and stations across the country, the air quality in most of the 25 provinces and capital in Cambodia is moderate, said this morning the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Environment H.E. Khvay Atiya.
But, he continued, the air quality in the provinces of Prey Veng, Pursat, and Pailin was found to be unhealthy for sensitive groups (those with heart disease or lung disease, children, teens and elderly, those who are active outdoors), while that in Banteay Meanchey, Koh Kong and Siem Reap provinces and Phnom Penh capital is unhealthy.
According to the Ministry of Environment, the decline in air quality was mainly due to an increase in inert particles floating in the air surpassing the standard and posing risks to human health and the environment.
The spokesperson called on the public to follow the Ministry of Environment’s media network to get updated on air quality, and take part in preventing and reducing the activities contributing to the decline in air quality such as plastic waste dumping and incineration, burning of grass and agricultural waste, open solid waste burning, and so on.
The public can now follow the air quality updates via an App, developed by the ministry, which can be downloaded at https://apps.apple.com/kh/app/cgs-spa/id6670718929 for IOS, and https://play.google.com/store/apps/details.... for Android.
