Coastal Provinces of Cambodia and Thailand Mull Tourism Connection
AKP Phnom Penh, January 29, 2025 --
Cambodia's Preah Sihanouk provincial governor has received his counterpart from Thailand's Trat province to explore tourism cooperation for mutual benefits.
H.E. Mang Sineth met with a visiting delegation from Trat province led by H.E. Natthapong Sanguanchit in Sihanoukville on Jan. 27.
He briefed the visiting delegation about the province's geography, tourism, business, and investment infrastructure, including waterways, airways, and land transportation routes.
Trat Provincial Governor H.E. Natthapong Sanguanchit informed H.E. Mang Sineth that his participation in the Cambodia-Vietnam-Thailand Coastal Economic Corridor (CVTEC) made him more interested in tourism cooperation with Cambodia and Vietnam.
The cooperation will allow the creation of a tourist route from Thailand's Trat to Cambodia's Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, and Kep, and to Vietnam, he said, adding that the initiative could increase Preah Sihanouk's tourism by over six percent.
According to H.E. Natthapong Sanguanchit, Trat is a tourist destination generating an annual income of about 20,000 million baht (nearly US$600 million).
H.E. Mang Sineth warmly welcomed the initiative of connecting the two countries' coastal provinces and looked forward to discussing the details with the Thai side.
