Ministry Flags Dengue Fever Prevention and Treatment
AKP Phnom Penh, February 07, 2025 --
The Ministry of Health has urged thorough treatment service provision and public safety practice to prevent dengue fever amidst rising seasonal infection in Cambodia.
In its recent announcement, the ministry highlighted that climate change has increased the breeding, hatching, and migration of mosquitoes during the dry season.
The ministry advised local health authorities to constantly guide residents in their respective areas on both prevention measures and access to treatment services.
It has also assigned a response team to spray mosquito repellents and coordinate with relevant authorities to disseminate the prevention measures against dengue.
The ministry urges all citizens to remain vigilant and engage in efforts to reduce and eliminate mosquito breeding sites at home and in their neighbourhood.
Cambodia reported 18,987 dengue fever cases in 2024, a decline of 46 percent from 35,390 cases a year before, and it killed 46 patients.
