AKP Phnom Penh, February 08, 2025 --
The Ministry of Environment, the Global Green Development Institute (GGGI), and Korea’s VERYWORDS company have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to promote the use of electric vehicles to contribute to reducing greenhouse gases and toxic emissions in the environment in Cambodia.
The MoU was signed here on Feb. 7 between H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, and representatives of GGGI and Korea’s VERYWORDS Company.
Speaking at the event, H.E. Eang Sophalleth stated that the investment of Korean company in Cambodia shows the good cooperation between Cambodia and the Republic of Korea for further development.
H.E. expressed his appreciation and added that investment in electric vehicles has contributed to protecting the environment and preventing climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, especially preventing toxic emissions from the use of fossil fuels in the atmosphere, in line with the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC)’s policy to encourage and promote investment in Cambodia.
The RGC has encouraged companies to invest in Cambodia, especially in environmental protection for cleanliness, greenness and sustainability, aiming to achieve Cambodia’s vision of becoming a carbon neutral country by 2050, he said.
In addition, the cooperation demonstrates the RGC’s efforts to maintain peace, political stability and development, especially its commitment to contribute to responding to climate change, both at the national level and in the global framework.
At the signing ceremony, the VERYWORDS company donated 8,000 e-scooters to the Ministry of Environment.
