Blood Donation Campaign on Valentine’s Day: “Give Blood, Give Love”
AKP Phnom Penh, February 14, 2025 --
H.E. Ms. Pum Chantinie, Secretary-General of the Cambodian Red Cross (CRC), presided over a blood donation campaign on Valentine’s Day under the theme “Give Blood, Give Love.”
The event took place at the National Blood Transfusion Center here this morning, gathering over 300 participants, including government officials, students, youth volunteers, and members of the public.
Dignitaries in attendance included H.E. Dr. Hok Kimcheng, Director General of Health Technical Affairs; H.E. Ms. Deng Sokuntheavy, CEO of One Fraternity (Vital); and Dr. Sok Po, Head of the National Blood Transfusion Centre.
In her remarks, H.E. Ms. Pum Chantinie highlighted the Cambodian Red Cross (CRC)’s dedication to fostering volunteerism among youth, in line with the organisation’s 2021–2030 strategic plan and its seven fundamental principles.
She emphasised the CRC’s commitment to supporting the government’s efforts in reducing illness and mortality rates through improved healthcare and public health initiatives.
She also noted that Valentine’s Day should not only celebrate love between individuals but also love for humanity and self-care. By donating blood, participants were not only saving lives but also safeguarding their own health and that of their loved ones.
With the growing demand for blood, especially due to an increase in non-communicable diseases, she urged the public to continue donating.
According to medical guidelines, men can donate up to four times a year, while women can donate three times a year.
