Royal Cambodian Army Commander Inspects Border Troops Along Cambodia-Thailand Frontier

Senior General Mao Sophan, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, accompanied by Lieutenant General Huot Chheang, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Royal Cambodian Army, along with senior army officials, conducted an inspection of military units stationed along the Cambodia-Thailand border from Feb. 25 to Mar. 2.
The visit focused on reviewing operational progress and boosting the morale of troops deployed in the 1st and 2nd directions of the border region.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by key military figures, including Lieutenant General Srey Doek, Deputy Commander of Royal Cambodian Army and Commander of the 3rd Intervention Division; Lieutenant General Pov Heng, Deputy Royal Cambodian Army and Commander of the 4th Military Region; and Brigadier General Nak Vong, Commander of the 42nd Infantry Brigade responsible for the Ta Moan and Ta Krabei temple areas.
Commanders of various units stationed along the border expressed gratitude for Senior Gen. Mao Sophan’s visit, which underscored the army’s commitment to safeguarding Cambodia’s territorial integrity.
During the inspection, H.E. Senior Gen. Mao Sophan praised the troops for their dedication and achievements in protecting their assigned areas. He outlined strategic priorities for the border units, emphasising the vision of establishing a clear, stable, and robust Cambodia-Thailand boundary. His directives aim to strengthen the military’s role in maintaining national sovereignty.
The visit included stops at key border posts, such as Marker No. 1 and the Preah Vihear, Ta Moan, and Ta Krabei Temples, where H.E. Senior Gen. Mao Sophan and his delegation engaged directly with stationed forces.
He urged the troops to maintain positive relations with their Thai counterparts, avoid provocations, and leave border disputes to the joint Cambodia-Thailand boundary commission for resolution.
The inspection highlights Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to reinforce security and cooperation along its northwestern boundary.
