Early childhood care and development (ECCD) is the foundation for the development of children's long-term welfare and health.

H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, highlighted the importance of the development while giving a special lecture on "The Role of Early Childhood Education in Promoting the Quality of Education in Cambodia" in Phnom Penh on Mar. 9.

It is a cornerstone for lifelong learning from the very early stage of life through building capacities and skills development, he added.

He continued that Cambodia needs to invest in ECCD to build human capital essential to address poverty and achieve Cambodia's growth aspirations.
