Young Cambodian Politicians to Visit Japan This Week

Ten young Cambodian politicians and activist will pay a visit to Japan from Mar. 12 to 19 as a part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan’s youth exchange programme called JENESYS (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) programme.
H.E. Uneo Atsushi, Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia, hosted at his residence here late last week a Send-off Ceremony for the ten young Cambodian politicians and activist, two of them from the ruling party, seven from the opposition parties, one from civil society organisation.
According to the embassy, the programme has been conducted since 2018 in order to support Cambodia’s democratic development through promoting dialogue between the ruling party, the opposition parties and others. This visit will be the seventh dispatch.
The ten participants will visit the National Diet and have exchanges with Japanese parliamentarians of Japan-Cambodia Friendship League, said the source, adding that they will also observe the election of the governor of Chiba Prefecture and so on.
