Cambodia, Partners Discuss Skills Development for Migrant Workers
AKP Phnom Penh, March 14, 2025 --
Cambodia’s Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MoLVT), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) have discussed skills development cooperation for Cambodian migrant workers.
The discussion took place at the ministry on Mar. 13 between H.E. Heng Sour, the Minister of Labour and Vocational Training; Mr. Reto Grüninger, SDC Head of Cooperation; and Ms. Nellie Ghusayni, Head of Mission of IOM in Cambodia.
The meeting focused mainly on supporting and developing skills for Cambodian migrant workers, especially through the PROMISE programme.
The Poverty Reduction through Safe Migration, Skills Development, and Enhanced Job Placement (PROMISE) programme aims to promote safe migration, skills development, and enhanced job placement for Cambodian migrant workers, especially women.
H.E. Heng Sour said that SDC and IOM in Cambodia have been immensely contributing to improving skills development and supporting Cambodian migrant workers, emphasising his strong support for the programme.
Mr. Reto Grüninger and Ms. Nellie Ghusayni were optimistic that the new project will continue to protect and offer skills development for Cambodian migrant workers.
They also updated the Minister on their work progress and achievements through the good cooperation with the MoLVT.
