Foreign Diplomatic Corps Extends Heartfelt Condolences to Cambodian Acting Head of State

Embassies of Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Türkiye, the U.S., Vietnam, etc. accredited to Cambodia as well as ASEAN General Secretariat and the United Nations Country Team have expressed their deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, and his family.
It is with great sadness to learn of the passing of H.E. Neak Oknha Oudom Metreivisidh Hun San, the eldest brother of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, they wrote in their respective condolence messages.
“Late H.E. Neak Oknha Oudom Metreivisidh Hun San has dedicated his long career for the development of Cambodia in the domain of the Public Works and Transport with great achievements for the country which truly deserves appreciation and will be remembered by many friends,” H.E. Ueno Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, underlined.
“The loss of H.E. Neak Oknha Hun San, a national figure greatly contributing to the development of Cambodia, is felt across the nation,” said H.E. Jo Scheuer, UN Resident Coordinator.
They also prayed for the soul of H.E. Neak Oknha Oudom Metreivisidh Hun San to rest in peace and the family to soon overcome this irreparable loss.
H.E. Neak Oknha Oudom Metreivisidh Hun San was born on July 6, 1948, in Peam Koh Sla commune, Stung Trang district, Kampong Cham province. He was the eldest of six children in a farming family. He was married to late Lok Chumteav Chroeung Kimhen, and together they had five children.
Throughout his career, H.E. Hun San held various positions before being appointed Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport in 2022.
On July 14, 2023, he was granted the title of Neak Oknha Oudom Metreivisidh by His Majesty the King in recognition of his dedication to the national development and his contributions to support the underprivileged in Cambodia.
H.E. Neak Oknha Oudom Metreivisidh Hun San passed away on Mar. 28 at the age of 78 years old due to illness.
