Cambodia Cycling Federation Gears Up for Second Annual Charity Ride to Support Angkor Children’s Hospital
AKP Phnom Penh, April 08, 2025 --
The Cambodia Cycling Federation (CCF) today announced its second annual “Ride for Cambodian Children,” a 310-kilometre charity cycling event from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap.
The ride aims to raise crucial funds and essential supplies for the esteemed Angkor Children’s Hospital (AHC) in Siem Reap province.
The event is scheduled to commence at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025, departing from the iconic Independence Monument in Phnom Penh capital city. Participants will embark on a scenic journey, concluding at the grounds of Angkor Children’s Hospital in Siem Reap province.
Speaking to the State-owned Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) this morning, Mr. Nou Chamroeun, Secretary-General of the Cambodia Cycling Federation, highlighted the success of the inaugural event held on June 1, 2024. That ride also spanned from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap and saw the enthusiastic participation of over 400 cyclists.
The registration fee for this year’s charity ride is US$25, and the registration period is now open daily until April 30, 2025. Each registered cyclist will receive a commemorative cycling jersey, a certificate of appreciation for their contribution, along with snacks and beverages to keep them energised throughout the challenging route.
Mr. Nou Chamroeun emphasised the dual purpose of the event: to generate vital support for the Angkor Children’s Hospital and to promote cycling as a healthy and unifying sport across the Kingdom. He also noted the event’s role in fostering collaboration among cycling communities in various provinces and its positive impact on regional tourism.
Angkor Children’s Hospital, established in 1999, is a non-profit pediatric healthcare organisation dedicated to providing free, high-quality medical care to the children of Cambodia. It has become a leading institution in the country, offering specialised treatments and serving as a teaching hospital for future healthcare professionals. The hospital provides a wide range of services, including inpatient and outpatient care, surgery, emergency services, intensive care, dental care, and community health programs.
The Cambodia Cycling Federation is actively encouraging athletes, youth, and the general public to participate in this meaningful cause.
Mr. Nou Chamroeun also extended a call for support to philanthropists, companies, and individuals who may not be able to cycle but wish to contribute financially or with in-kind donations to help Cambodian children in need.
This charity ride follows the successful “Ride to Give Hope and Love to Children” event organised by the CCF on Feb. 15, 2025, which saw enthusiastic participation in a 290-kilometre journey from Phnom Penh to Battambang province, also aimed at supporting children’s welfare.
The Cambodia Cycling Federation hopes that the “Ride for Cambodian Children” will not only provide significant support to Angkor Children’s Hospital but also further energise the growing cycling movement in Cambodia, promoting health, unity, and charitable giving.
