Over 200 National and International Riders Expected to Join the 2025 ENEOS Motocross Championship in Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, April 21, 2025 --
Riders gearing up for the highly anticipated 2025 ENEOS Motocross Championship gathered for a practice session on April 20 at the new motocross track located on land owned by Lok Neak Oknha Ly Yong Phat, near the entrance of Phnom Penh Safari Zoo along the Win-Win Boulevard, Khan Chroy Changvar, Phnom Penh.
According to the event organiser Mr. Pich Sokha, this year’s championship is expected to attract over 200 national and international competitors. The event will take place on May 10-11, 2025, at the newly established venue, which has been developed in collaboration with ENEOS, a motor oil company supporting the sport’s development in Cambodia.
Mr. Pich Sokha highlighted that this year’s event will be larger than in previous years, not only in scale but also in the number of disciplines and the diversity of participants.
The competition will feature 10 different categories, ranging from youth to senior riders over 40 years old, as well as high-level professional classes.
He emphasised that the new venue offers several advantages over previous locations. Situated away from residential areas, it minimises noise disturbance to the public, and its proximity to a main road makes it easily accessible. The motocross track spans more than 6 hectares and is planned for long-term use, ranging from five to ten years, thanks to support from Lok Neak Oknha Ly Yong Phat.
With over a decade of experience in organising motocross events, Mr. Pich Sokha expressed confidence in the potential of the new track to foster talent development. He aims to give more young Cambodians opportunities to train and compete in motocross, helping the sport grow even further in the country.
International participation will also be a key highlight this year, with riders from eight foreign countries currently residing in Cambodia joining the race. In addition, new participants are expected from South Africa, Italy, Türkiye, Thailand, and Vietnam. Their involvement will provide a valuable benchmark to assess the skills of Cambodian riders against international standards.
Mr. Pich Sokha called on all motocross riders to register and take part in this landmark event, emphasising the importance of continued practice and competition in elevating the sport.
He noted that through sustained efforts and partnerships, motocross in Cambodia has significantly advanced over recent years.
He pointed out that the number of Class A riders has grown from just 7-8 in the past to 18 today. Class B riders have increased to 40, while Class C now includes around 50 competitors – a sign of strong and growing interest in motocross among Cambodian athletes.
The 2025 ENEOS Motocross Championship promises to be a milestone event for Cambodian motorsports, marking another step forward in the country’s journey toward international recognition in motocross.
