Cambodia to Host Vikingz Warrior Mekong Invitational 2025 International Esports Tournament
AKP Phnom Penh, April 30, 2025 --
Cambodia is set to host the highly anticipated Vikingz Warrior Mekong Invitational 2025, an international esports tournament featuring the popular game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
The official signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between T.Y Media and Khmer Beverages, the event’s organisers, was held recently in the presence of key figures in Cambodia’s esports and business sectors.
Attending the ceremony were H.E. Lun Samdy, Secretary-General of the Cambodia Esports Federation; Oknha Leang Meng, Co-founder and CEO of Khmer Beverages; and Mr. Chhun Samnang, representative of T.Y Media.
On behalf of the Cambodia Esports Federation and the broader Cambodian esports community, H.E. Lun Samdy expressed deep appreciation for Vikingz’s initiative in organising this landmark tournament. He noted that the event aligns closely with the federation’s development roadmap, which emphasises the importance of expanding international-level competitions to enhance human resources in the sector — including coaches, players, referees, and technical officials.
The Vikingz Warrior Mekong Invitational also echoes the spirit of regional collaboration outlined during meetings among esports federations from Mekong countries. These meetings aim to strengthen partnerships through joint competitions, training programmes, and knowledge exchange.
Oknha Leang Meng shared his pride in partnering with T.Y Media for this long-term venture in Cambodia’s esports industry. He reaffirmed Khmer Beverages’ strong commitment to further advancing the sector, promising to bring more high-profile esports events to Cambodia in the near future. He emphasised that Vikingz is here not for the short term, but with a long-term vision for collaborative development. He expressed confidence that Cambodian esports has the potential to grow and shine on the international stage.
At the same event, Vikingz and T.Y Media officially announced the Vikingz Mekong Invitational, a major international tournament featuring participants from Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Laos. The goal of this new event goes beyond competition — it aims to create a milestone in Cambodia’s esports history, offering a vital platform for local athletes to showcase their talents internationally and gain experience that will prepare them for future global competitions.
In a celebratory gesture, Oknha Leang Meng also pledged an additional US$20,000 in sponsorship to any Cambodian esports athlete who secures a gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games, set to take place in Thailand in December 2025.
