Cambodian Runner Leng Tong Carries National Pride at U.S. Marathon

Cambodian long-distance runner Leng Tong recently represented his nation on the global stage at the 27th annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon in Ohio, USA.
The international event drew over 30,000 athletes from across the world.
The prestigious U.S. race featured a variety of distances, including 3km, 5km, 10km, a half-marathon (21km), and the full marathon (42km).
Leng Tong competed in the demanding 42-km event, finishing in 3 hours, 54 minutes, and 20 seconds, placing 1,242nd out of 5,627 participants.
Visibly carrying the Cambodian flag throughout the race, Leng's participation served as a powerful display of Cambodian national identity for the international audience. His athletic journey continues with a planned participation in the Berlin Marathon in Germany on Sept. 21, where he will join six other Cambodian athletes.
A well-respected figure within Cambodia’s running community, Leng Tong stated that his motivation for competing in the U.S. marathon was to highlight the burgeoning and dynamic sports culture within Cambodia, particularly in the realm of long-distance running.
Recognised for his consistent involvement in charitable running events nationwide, Leng Tong is a regular competitor in 10km, 21km, and 42km races. He has recently achieved new personal best times in both half and full marathon distances in domestic competitions.
