AKP Phnom Penh, July 14, 2025 --
The Iranian Kun Khmer Federation successfully organised the National Kun Khmer Championships 2025 from July 9 to 11, with the goal of promoting the traditional Khmer martial art across Iran and the broader Middle East.
The tournament not only served to identify top-performing athletes for upcoming international competitions but also highlighted Cambodia’s efforts to extend the global reach of Kun Khmer.
H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Acting President of the International Kun Khmer Federation, expressed gratitude to Mr. Seyed Reza Mousavi, President of the Kun Khmer Federation in Iran, for the excellent organisation of the event.
H.E. Vath Chamroeun urged all member nations of the federation to hold similar competitions in preparation for the World Kun Khmer Championships 2025, scheduled to take place in Cambodia in late 2025 or early 2026.
He encouraged all 68 member countries to match Iran’s commitment and enthusiasm by actively hosting national tournaments to spotlight their local talent and grow the sport’s international influence.
