Cambodian DanceSport Team Returns with 18 Medals from Regional Championships
AKP Phnom Penh, July 15, 2025 --
The Cambodian DanceSport team has made a triumphant return after impressively winning 18 medals at the 2025 Southeast Asian and Asian DanceSport Championships, held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from July 8 to 13.
The team secured a total of 3 gold, 4 silver, and 11 bronze medals at the prestigious regional competition, marking a significant achievement for Cambodia on the international DanceSport stage.
Their arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport on July 14 was met with enthusiastic applause and warm welcomes from senior officials, including Secretary of State at the Ministry of Women's Affairs and President of the Cambodian DanceSport Federation (CDSF) H.E. Mrs. Nhem Morokot, Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation and CDSF Vice President H.E. Chab To, and CDSF Secretary General Ms. Hamg Simorn.
H.E. Mrs. Nhem Morokot expressed profound pride in the team’s performance, highlighting the athletes’ remarkable progress and growing competitiveness on the international stage.
She underscored that the team's accomplishments reflect Cambodia's advancing sports sector, bolstered by ongoing investment and support from the Royal Government.
This year’s championships drew approximately 3,000 athletes from 37 countries, underscoring the scale and prestige of the event.
The Cambodian DanceSport Federation dispatched a delegation of 18 dancers, along with Technical Director and Delegate Head Mr. Shou Dong and Coach Ms. You Shu Jie, to join the championships.
