Cambodian Officials Inspect Displaced Persons Shelter Near Border
AKP Phnom Penh, February 01, 2026 —
A high-level delegation led by H.E. Ke Kim Yan, Member of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King and Member of National Assembly for Banteay Meanchey Provincial Constituency, conducted an on-site inspection of temporary shelters in Thmar Puok district on Saturday to ensure the welfare of civilians displaced by the Thai troops invasion.
The mission follows escalating tensions and what Cambodian officials have characterised as Thai incursions into sovereign territory. Accompanying the delegation were members of the National Assembly and Senate, and provincial leaders.
The primary objective of the visit was to accelerate the development of temporary infrastructure for residents unable to return to their homes.
H.E. Ke Kim Yan emphasised that the Royal Government is committed to providing adequate housing, food security, and medical support for all displaced persons.
"The priority of the Royal Government of Cambodia is the protection of our territorial integrity and the safety of our citizens," H.E. Ke Kim Yan stated during a meeting with displaced families and frontline workers. "What we are doing here is clear evidence of the dedication of our leadership and local authorities, who are utilising all available resources to provide a safe shelter and prepare for future recovery."
He further reassured the public that the Royal Government "will not leave any citizen to suffer alone," noting that the collaboration between civil authorities and the armed forces remains the "backbone" of the humanitarian response.
Currently, technical teams are working around the clock to install essential utilities, including water and electricity systems, and to erect additional tents to accommodate the influx of families at the temporary sites.
