Senate President: H.E. Jose de Venecia's Passing Is a Great Loss of ICAPP Community
AKP Phnom Penh, February 19, 2026 --
Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has extended his sincere condolences over the loss of H.E. Jose de Venecia Jr., Founding and Emeritus Chairman of ICAPP and Former Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines.
"It is with profound sorrow that I learned of the passing of His Excellency Jose de Venecia Jr., a towering statesman, a visionary parliamentarian, and the Founding and Emeritus Chairman of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP)," he wrote to H.E. Ms. Gina de Venecia, Spouse of H.E. Jose de Venecia Jr., in a condolence message AKP received on Feb. 19.
"On behalf of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), whose member serves as Vice-Chairman of the ICAPP, I would like to extend to Your Excellency and your beloved family my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy during this moment of immeasurable loss," he added.
Samdech Techo stated that Cambodia will always remember his unwavering support, friendship, wisdom and steadfast commitment to building bridges among nations. His passing is a great loss not only to your family, but to the entire ICAPP community and all who had the privilege of working with him.
"During this very difficult time, I pray that Your Excellency and your family find strength, comfort, and peace. May his soul rest in eternal serenity," he concluded.
