Swiss Development Agency Visits Displaced Persons Camps in Cambodia’s Preah Vihear
AKP Phnom Penh, February 21, 2026 --
Delegates from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) conducted a high-level field visit to camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Preah Vihear province on Friday, according to international aid organisation World Vision.
The delegation, accompanied by provincial authorities and World Vision representatives, met with families who have been uprooted by ongoing instability in the region. The visit aimed to assess the humanitarian landscape and the immediate needs of those living in temporary settlements.
During the mission, SDC officials held direct consultations with displaced families, with a specific focus on the plight of children and their guardians.
"The families highlighted an urgent need for mental health and psychosocial support, alongside direct cash assistance," World Vision said in a statement.
"These interventions are critical to restoring dignity, hope, and resilience during this period of profound hardship."
Preah Vihear, located along Cambodia’s northern border, has seen periodic displacement of its civilian population. World Vision and its partners stated they remain committed to providing a safety net for the most vulnerable, emphasising that the protection of children remains their primary humanitarian priority.
