Cambodia, Singapore Vow to Further Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation
AKP Phnom Penh, March 03, 2026 -- Cambodia and Singapore are committed to fostering their bilateral cooperation in various areas for the benefits of both nations and peoples.
The commitment was highlighted during a farewell meeting here on Mar. 2 between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and H.E. Ms. Teo Lay Cheng, outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during the meeting, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn congratulated H.E. Ambassador on the successful completion of her diplomatic mission and expressed appreciation for her dedicated efforts in further strengthening bilateral relations.
He noted with satisfaction that, during her mandate, cooperation between the two countries made significant progress, particularly through the exchange of high-level visits, including the official visits of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, to Singapore in 2024 and H.E. Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of Singapore, to Cambodia in 2025 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Singapore.
The Deputy Prime Minister and the Ambassador engaged in exchanging views on various areas of cooperation, including defence, trade, labour, human resource development, and people-to-people exchanges. They also reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening and deepening this cooperation effectively to provide tangible and long-lasting benefits to the people of both nations.
The Ambassador expressed her profound gratitude and stated that she was honoured and proud to serve in Cambodia over the years. She commended Cambodia's significant achievements, including successful ASEAN Chairmanship in 2022, as well as the successful hosting of the Southeast Asian Games and the ASEAN Para Games in 2023. She also highlighted the meaningful activities organised by the Embassy to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations last year.
The meeting concluded with sincere appreciation extended by H.E. Ambassador to the Deputy Prime Minister, and colleagues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, as well as various relevant Cambodian institutions for their close cooperation and support during her mandate, while the Deputy Prime Minister extended his best wishes to the Ambassador for a successful tenure in her new assignment and reaffirmed Cambodia's readiness to provide support and cooperation to the incoming Singaporean Ambassador to further strengthen bilateral relations.
