AKP Phnom Penh, March 04, 2026 --
Cambodia’s Ambassador to Bulgaria has been awarded a gold medal by the Council of Europe’s Scientific and Cultural Community in recognition of his contributions to promoting cultural and scientific cooperation.
The award was presented at an international event held in Sofia last week, attended by artists and representatives from various countries.
According to organisers, the gold medal honours the ambassador’s significant role in advancing cultural and scientific exchanges, as well as his active participation in multilateral cooperation programmes.
The recipient, H.E. Dr. Chea Chanboribo, serves as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Republic of Bulgaria.
He has been actively engaged in delivering lectures to students at several universities and institutes across the country.
His lectures, officials said, have not only shared professional knowledge and experience but also fostered greater understanding of cultural ties and international cooperation between Cambodia and Bulgaria.
In remarks delivered at the event, H.E. Dr. Chea Chanboribo said that engaging with students and sharing knowledge provides a valuable opportunity to strengthen professional capacity and broaden global awareness. He described the recognition as a reflection of Cambodia’s growing engagement in promoting culture and science at the international level.
The award and the ambassador’s academic outreach underscore the Royal Embassy of Cambodia's role in supporting education, science and cultural diplomacy beyond traditional diplomatic functions, officials added.
