Prime Minister Urges Close Monitoring of Safety of Cambodians in the Middle East
AKP Phnom Penh, March 13, 2026 --
Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) and relevant ministries and institutions to pay close attention to the safety and well-being of Cambodian citizens working and studying in countries across the Middle East.
The directive was issued during the plenary Cabinet meeting held at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on Mar. 13.
Samdech Thipadei also called on the relevant authorities to maintain regular communication and be prepared to provide immediate assistance and coordination when necessary to ensure the safety and security of all Cambodian citizens in the region.
According to the MFAIC, there are 595 Cambodian nationals, including students, living and studying in several Middle Eastern countries, including Israel, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain.
In its recent press release, the Ministry confirmed that the Cambodian nationals have been maintaining strict vigilance and are safe.
The Ministry also noted that the Royal Cambodian Embassies in the region have been instructed to maintain regular communication with host-country authorities as well as with representatives of Cambodian communities and students to closely monitor their well-being and provide assistance if necessary.
