Cambodia, Korea Deepen Tourism Cooperation

Cambodia and the Republic of Korea have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the tourism sector to boost two-way tourist flows.
The commitment was made during a meeting on Mar. 20 in Phnom Penh between H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, and H.E. Kim Changyong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia.
The meeting focused on enhancing and expanding bilateral tourism cooperation, with both sides exchanging views on concrete measures to promote the sector. In particular, discussions highlighted the importance of restoring regular direct flights between major Korean cities and Siem Reap to facilitate travel.
H.E. Huot Hak expressed his appreciation to the Government and people of the Republic of Korea for their continued support and strong cooperation with Cambodia, particularly in development assistance and employment opportunities for Cambodian workers in Korea.
The Minister also briefed the Ambassador on Cambodia’s political, economic, social, and tourism situation, including trends in Korean tourist arrivals and investment.
He further highlighted the Royal Government’s ongoing efforts to crack down on online scam crimes, initiated by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, as well as the approval of a draft law to combat such crimes.
For his part, H.E. Kim Changyong commended Cambodia’s strong commitment and effective cooperation with Korean institutions in tackling online crimes, noting that the results have exceeded expectations. He also expressed appreciation for Cambodia’s careful approach in drafting anti-cybercrime legislation.
The Ambassador proposed exploring innovative tourism packages and additional cooperation initiatives to attract more Korean tourists and investors to Cambodia.
According to a Ministry of Tourism report, Cambodia welcomed 152,598 Korean tourists in 2025, a 20 percent decrease from 191,305 in 2024.
