Vietnam, Cambodia Pledge Deeper Ties as Envoy Delivers New Year Greetings
AKP Phnom Penh, March 25, 2026 —
Vietnam’s Ambassador to Cambodia met the Commander-In-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) on Wednesday, reaffirming the neighbouring countries’ commitment to deepening bilateral ties ahead of the traditional Khmer New Year.
Ambassador H.E. Nguyen Minh Vu held talks with H.E. General Vong Pisen at the RCAF headquarters in Phnom Penh, a traditional goodwill exchange preceding the national holiday, which runs from April 14–16.
H.E. Nguyen Minh Vu underscored the historical ties between the two nations, saying they had long stood "shoulder to shoulder" in past struggles for national liberation. He described current relations as a period of "comprehensive cooperation" delivering increasingly effective mutual benefits.
H.E. General Vong Pisen thanked the ambassador and the Vietnamese military attaché, calling the visit a testament to the "unshakeable friendship, solidarity, and long-term cooperation" between the two countries and their armed forces.
The ambassador concluded by offering traditional blessings for the coming traditional Khmer New Year to H.E. General Vong Pisen, his family, and the RCAF leadership.
