Two Singaporean Officers Arrive in Cambodia to Join AOT
AKP Phnom Penh, March 27, 2026 --
Two officers from Singapore arrived at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport on the afternoon of Mar. 27 to join the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) in support of monitoring the implementation of ceasefire measures along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
According to H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, Major Wong Zheng Ernest and Warrant Officer Shasi Kumar were warmly welcomed upon their arrival by the Cambodian Coordination Group (CLG).
The two officers will serve as part of the AOT, currently led by the Philippines in its role as ASEAN Chair. The team is tasked with observing, verifying, and ensuring the effective implementation of measures outlined in the joint agreements between Cambodia and Thailand.
Cambodia reiterated its full support for the ASEAN Observer Team, stressing the importance of strengthening its role and mandate to ensure the ceasefire and related measures are fully and effectively implemented.
By welcoming participation from ASEAN member states, Cambodia aims to promote transparency, accountability, and mutual trust in the process.
The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence reaffirmed their firm and unwavering commitment to fully implement the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) dated Dec. 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on Peace between Cambodia and Thailand signed on Oct. 26, 2025, and all other relevant agreements.
These efforts are aimed at restoring normalcy and ensuring long-term peace and stability along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
