Phnom Kulen Named Among ASEAN’s Seven Wonders by Condé Nast Traveller
AKP Phnom Penh, April 03, 2026 --
Phnom Kulen National Park in Cambodia’s Siem Reap province has been named one of the Seven Wonders of ASEAN by Condé Nast Traveller in its 2026 listing.
The Ministry of Tourism this morning extended its congratulations on the park’s prestigious recognition.
“[…] Nestled in the sacred Phnom Kulen mountain range, it is considered the birthplace of the Khmer Empire. Within this protected land filled with untouched rainforests, impressive waterfalls, and scenic views, exists the ‘lost city’ of Mahendraparvata, an ancient capital of the Khmer Empire that predates Angkor Wat by approximately 350 years,” the travel magazine noted.
It further highlighted that sacred temples, ancient shrines, and spiritual sites are scattered throughout, integrated in the park’s natural forest and river landscapes, making Phnom Kulen a unique cultural, archaeological, and ecological site.
Other sites included in the Seven Wonders of ASEAN list are Raja Ampat (Indonesia), Batanes (Philippines), Bái Tử Long Bay (Vietnam), George Town (Malaysia), Bolaven (Laos), and Doi Inthanon National Park (Thailand).
