His Majesty the King to Extend Stay in China for Medical Treatment
AKP Phnom Penh, April 10, 2026 -- His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, will extend his stay in Beijing, China, to continue receiving medical treatment, according to a Royal Message issued on April 10.
The decision follows medical advice from doctors at a hospital in the Chinese capital, who have recommended that His Majesty remain under care for an additional one to two months for treatment and recovery.
As a result, the King will not yet return to Cambodia as initially expected, as he continues to prioritise his health under close medical supervision.
In the message, His Majesty also informed his compatriots of his current health condition, noting that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer following thorough medical examinations.
Despite his extended stay abroad, His Majesty conveyed his warm thoughts to the nation and extended his heartfelt wishes for peace, happiness, and prosperity to all Cambodians on the occasion of the upcoming Khmer New Year.
The Cambodian monarch also expressed his sincere appreciation for the understanding and support extended to him during this period.
