Nearly 1,000 Chinese Tourists Visit Cambodia via Luxury Cruise Ship
AKP Phnom Penh, April 13, 2026 --
A Bermuda-flagged cruise ship, the Piano Land, carrying nearly 1,000 Chinese tourists, docked at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port on Sunday for a one-day visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
According to Sihanoukville international port immigration officials, the vessel – measuring 260.97 metres in length and 32.2 metres in width – arrived from Brunei at 12:30 p.m. It carried a total of 996 international passengers representing 11 nationalities, along with 501 crew members from 13 countries.
Chinese nationals constituted the vast majority of the travellers, totaling 961 individuals.
Immigration officials at the port streamlined entry procedures to ensure a seamless experience for the visitors, part of a broader Royal Government effort to bolster public service confidence and attract more international travelers to Preah Sihanouk province.
The cruise ship departed at 9:00 p.m. the same day, bound for Vietnam.
The arrival marks a continued trend of international cruise dockings at the start of 2026, signaling a robust recovery for both European and Asian tourism in the region. The Royal Government of Cambodia has identified the tourism industry as "green gold," a cornerstone of its national strategy to drive economic growth and improve local livelihoods.
During their brief stay, the tourists visited several local landmarks, including traditional fishing villages, bustling markets, coastal beaches, and cultural sites such as the city's various Buddhist pagodas.
