MoU Signed to Boost Eco-Tourism Development
AKP Phnom Penh, April 14, 2026 --
The Ministry of Tourism has officially entered into a partnership with CODEAUKHMER to accelerate the development of Cambodia’s burgeoning eco-tourism sector.
H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, presided over the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) held here on April 13 with participation from Mr. Pierric REYNAUD, representative of the French Embassy in Cambodia, as well as representatives of stakeholders involved in the ecotourism promotion project.
Speaking at the ceremony, H.E. Minister expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders for their active participation in the development of the tourism sector with the Royal Government of Cambodia.
Under the MoU, Cambodia and tourism potential, especially beautiful ecotourism will be widely promoted as a tourist destination for annual vacation among French and European tourists.
Additionally, he urged stakeholders to actively implement this project to bring tangible and fruitful results, with an increasing number of French and European tourists to Cambodia, especially in the upcoming green season.
Beside the signing ceremony, all parties share the view that promoting the development of tourism, especially ecotourism, is crucial for strengthening and expanding the deep and historical friendship between Cambodia and France.
It also promotes the local economy, increases employment opportunities and income for citizens, improves livelihoods, and drives national economic growth, as well as enhancing Cambodia's reputation on the international stage as an attractive ecotourism destination.
CODEAUKHMER is a Franco-Khmer organisation established in 1994 with the aim of promoting rural development in Cambodia through education and solidarity, and has received support from many institutions, especially the state-owned enterprise EDF-GDF, which has been confidently organising annual trips for its employees to Cambodia consecutively since 2008.
