Minister of Environment to Attend 2026 Regional Environmental Summit in Kazakhstan
AKP Phnom Penh, April 20, 2026 --
Cambodian Minister of Environment H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth has departed for Kazakhstan to attend the 2026 Regional Ecological Summit (RES 2026) to take place from April 22-24 in Astana.
The summit was initiated by H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and organised in collaboration with the United Nations to promote environmental sustainability and strengthen regional cooperation in Central Asia.
This year's RES 2026 is expected to become a vital platform for promoting environmental protection and coordinated regional solutions to shared environmental challenges.
Discussions are planned around several key environmental issues, including climate change, environmental resilience, and sustainable development. Additionally, the 2026-2030 Action Programme, developed by Asian countries in partnership with the United Nations, will be launched to support long-term sustainability and resilience in the region.
