Outgoing Ambassador Reaffirms Hungary’s Close Partnership with Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, May 26, 2026 -- Outgoing Hungarian Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Tibor BALOGHDI has described Cambodia as a close partner of Hungary, highlighting the strong and growing ties between the two countries.
The remarks were made during a farewell courtesy call on Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on Tuesday morning.
During the meeting, Ambassador BALOGHDI expressed satisfaction with the progress of bilateral relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Hungary, noting that the relationship has evolved through shared historical experiences into a close partnership.
He pointed to the increasing exchanges of high-level visits between the legislative and executive branches of both countries, as well as expanding ties between investors, as evidence of fruitful cooperation that continues to deepen bilateral relations.
The Ambassador reaffirmed Hungary’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Cambodia in order to further enhance bilateral, regional, and global cooperation.
He also expressed sincere gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia and relevant ministries and institutions for their close cooperation during his diplomatic mission, which he said contributed to achieving many mutually beneficial results for the peoples of both nations.
For his part, Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet highly appreciated the Ambassador’s active contribution to promoting and expanding Cambodia-Hungary relations and cooperation during his tenure.
The Prime Minister welcomed the steady progress of high-level ties between the two countries in both legislative and executive frameworks and thanked the Hungarian government and people for continuing to provide scholarships and support for Cambodian students, helping to strengthen Cambodia’s human resources development.
Samdech Thipadei stressed that while state-to-state cooperation is important, people-to-people relations also play a vital role in strengthening friendship and solidarity between the two nations.
He reaffirmed the Royal Government’s commitment to further deepening Cambodia-Hungary relations at bilateral, regional, and global levels.
The Prime Minister also encouraged closer engagement between the private sectors of both countries through business visits focused on priority sectors such as water resource management and agro-industry.
He further invited Hungarian investors to explore additional investment opportunities in Cambodia, noting that many potential sectors remain open for cooperation.
