Cambodia, Vietnam Vow to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation in Information Sector

Cambodia and Vietnam have reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the information sector, with a focus on media development, digital transformation, and capacity building.
The commitment was expressed during a meeting between Cambodian Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra and Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism H.E. Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy at the Ministry of Information in Phnom Penh on Tuesday morning.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the long-standing cooperation between the two ministries and agreed to further enhance collaboration in journalism development, printing, broadcasting, audiovisual production, news exchange, training, and social media governance.
The discussions also highlighted cooperation between the Ministry of Information and Voice of Vietnam (VOV), particularly in technical support, satellite equipment, live broadcast vehicles, and archival systems.
Minister Neth Pheaktra further proposed strengthening technical cooperation between Vietnam Television (VTV) and National Television of Cambodia (TVK), as well as between Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP).
Both sides agreed on the importance of promoting joint content production and exchange to enhance traditional friendship, good neighbourliness, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
They also agreed to designate focal officials to facilitate coordination and implementation of the Information Cooperation Plan for 2026–2030, which is expected to be signed in the near future.
The Cambodian Minister requested continued technical assistance and digital equipment support for content production, digital archiving, social media broadcasting, and the application of emerging technologies in media institutions.
He also requested annual scholarships and training quotas for Cambodian officials, the organisation of Training of Trainers (ToT) programmes, and expanded exchange visits between media professionals of both countries.
In response, the Vietnamese Deputy Minister agreed to take the proposals for further consideration for the development of an implementation plan for the 2026–2030 cooperation framework.
