Ambassador Chum Sounry Encourages Taica Corporation to Expand Engagement in Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, June 19, 2026 -- H.E. Chum Sounry, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Japan, received a courtesy call from representatives of Japan’s Taica Corporation at the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Tokyo on June 19.
The Taica delegation was led by Mr. Hideyuki Uchida, Department Manager of the President’s Office, and Mr. Akira Saito, Manager of the President’s Office.
According to a press release issued by the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Japan following the meeting, the company representatives briefed the Ambassador on Taica Corporation's business activities and community outreach initiatives in Cambodia, emphasising the company's dual commitment to contributing to the Kingdom's economic growth and strengthening the bonds of friendship between Japan and the Cambodian people.
Ambassador Chum Sounry highly appreciated Taica Corporation's continuous engagement in Cambodia since 2012, particularly in the areas of investment, job creation, education support, sports promotion, and community development.
The Ambassador emphasised that Japanese companies such as Taica Corporation play an important role in Cambodia's economic growth, technology transfer, and human resource development, while also strengthening the longstanding friendship and people-to-people ties between Cambodia and Japan.
The discussion also highlighted Taica Corporation's support for youth and educational activities, including school supply donations, Khmer language speech contests, and sports initiatives for Cambodian youth. Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to further enhancing Cambodia-Japan relations and promoting continued cooperation between Cambodia and Taica Corporation in the years ahead.
Ambassador Sounry also briefed the company on the concrete actions undertaken by the competent Cambodian authorities to combat online scams and other transnational organised crimes under the Royal Government's strict zero-tolerance policy, as well as the encouraging results achieved through these efforts.
He further shared the Government's recent decision to initiate compulsory conciliation proceedings under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), reaffirming Cambodia's commitment to seeking a peaceful settlement of the Cambodia-Thailand border issue through dialogue, diplomacy, and international law.
