Cambodia and CCECC Fast-Track Feasibility Studies for Transport Infrastructure Modernisation
AKP Phnom Penh, June 29, 2026 --
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Sun Chanthol met with Mr. Wang Xiangdong, President of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), in Beijing on Monday to accelerate major transport infrastructure investments.
The high-level discussions focused on CCECC’s upcoming feasibility studies for modernising Cambodia's transit network.
During the meeting, Mr. Wang briefed the Deputy Prime Minister on CCECC's global portfolio of mega-projects, which spans highways, railways, airports, and industrial parks.
Mr. Wang noted that the state-owned enterprise is nearing the completion of comprehensive feasibility studies for several transport modernisation initiatives in Cambodia, conducted in close collaboration with local authorities.
In response, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, who also serves as the First Vice Chaiman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), welcomed CCECC’s continued commitment to the Kingdom's development. He emphasised that the Royal Government is prepared to evaluate the upcoming study results to determine the next phases of implementation.
"The Royal Government of Cambodia encourages CCECC to expand its investment footprint, particularly in high-value-added priority sectors that drive economic growth and create high-quality jobs for Cambodian citizens."
The partnership directly supports Cambodia’s Pentagonal Strategy, a long-term national economic plan prioritising infrastructure, human capital development, and technological advancement.
