Cambodia’s Ruling Party Targets Online Scams to Bolster Investment
AKP Phnom Penh, January 31, 2026 --
A senior official of Cambodia’s ruling party on Saturday ordered a rigorous crackdown on technology-driven crimes, citing the need to protect the nation’s reputation among international tourists and investors.
Samdech Kitti Sangahapundit Men Sam An, Vice President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and Chairwoman of the CPP Central Working Group for Svay Rieng province, issued the directive during a meeting in the province to review 2025 work performance and set the 2026 new agenda.
Addressing approximately 800 party officials and provincial representatives, Samdech Men Sam An emphasised that eliminating online scams is a strategic priority for maintaining economic stability.
"Relevant units must intensify actions against technology-based crimes," she said. "This is essential to ensuring safety and bolstering the confidence of those looking to visit or invest in the Kingdom."
The directive comes as Cambodia seeks to distance itself from regional concerns regarding cyber-fraud hubs. Beyond security, the Vice President urged party cadres to strengthen "ideological education" and grassroots engagement to maintain the province's developmental momentum.
Svay Rieng, a key economic zone bordering Vietnam, remains central to Cambodia's industrial strategy. Samdech Men Sam An credited the province's 2025 growth to "unwavering confidence" in the Royal Government’s leadership, while calling for heightened patriotism and the preservation of national peace in the year ahead.
