The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has delivered a diverse range of critical learning materials to Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport to support the educational needs of children impacted by the recent crisis in border areas.

The handover ceremony took place in the capital of Phnom Penh on Feb. 24, with the supplies procured with funding from the Capacity Development Partnership Fund (CDPF). 

This aid package is designed to ensure that learning continues uninterrupted for some of the most vulnerable students in the Kingdom.

The consignment includes 20 large-scale tents to serve as temporary classrooms, 200 essential learning kits for educators, and over 32,000 home-based learning packages specifically designed for pupils in grades 1 to 3. 

These resources will be deployed to schools and communities in the northwestern provinces of Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, and Preah Vihear.

The supplies will serve a dual purpose: the tents will be erected as temporary learning spaces in schools and camps, while the individual learning kits and packages will equip teachers with the tools needed for instruction and ensure pupils have the materials required to continue their studies at home.

“Every child has the right to a quality education, no matter the circumstances,” said a UNICEF representative. “These materials are a lifeline, ensuring that children whose lives have been disrupted by the crisis can return to learning in a safe and supportive environment.”

UNICEF extended its gratitude to the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and the European Union in Cambodia for their continued close collaboration, which is vital to ensuring that all children have access to uninterrupted, quality education.
