AKP Phnom Penh, February 28, 2026 --

A joint delegation from the France-Cambodia Parliamentary Friendship Group and the Cambodian National Assembly visited displaced families in northwestern Cambodia’s Siem Reap province on Saturday and delivered humanitarian assistance.

The French delegation, led by the group President H.E. Thomas Lam, and the Cambodian delegation headed by H.E. Chheang Vun, Chairman of the Cambodian National Assembly’s Commission on Economy, Finance, Banking and Audit, visited 200 families temporarily sheltering in Puok district, where they distributed rice and other basic necessities.

The visit was aimed at supporting civilians affected by Thai incursions along the border and underscored humanitarian cooperation between the two parliaments.

H.E. Chheang Vun, conveyed messages of support and appreciation from National Assembly President Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary to armed forces personnel stationed along the border, as well as to provincial authorities and civil servants in Siem Reap.

He said the National Assembly leadership continues to pay close attention to the welfare and safety of both security forces and civilians in border areas, providing ongoing moral and material support.

H.E. Chheang Vun also highlighted the National Assembly’s efforts to promote peace and social stability through parliamentary diplomacy, in line with the Royal Government’s policy of resolving disputes through diplomatic channels and international law.

He called on residents to maintain confidence in the Royal Government’s leadership in addressing border challenges through negotiations and legal mechanisms.

Following the aid distribution, the delegation inspected O’Chik Bridge in Srey Snam district, which had been damaged by recent Thai air attack, to assess the impact on civilian infrastructure.
