National Resilience Requires a Strong Economy, National Solidarity, and Social Unity: NA President
AKP Phnom Penh, March 12, 2026 -- The National Assembly (NA) and the Senate of Cambodia, in cooperation with several ministries and institutions of the Royal Government, organised here at the NA Palace on Mar. 12 a seminar titled “Strengthening National Resilience and Advancing Opportunities in Cambodia’s Governance Strategy for Science, Technology, Innovation, Industry, and Trade.”
The opening ceremony was presided over by NA President Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary. More than 300 participants attended the seminar in person and online, including members of the Senate and NA, representatives of the Royal Government, and officials from the Secretariat-General of both legislative bodies and relevant ministries.
Speaking at the event, Samdech President emphasised that national resilience is a nation’s capacity to withstand unexpected crises, recover swiftly, and continue advancing toward sustainable development and future prosperity.
Samdech Khuon Sudary noted that “achieving national resilience requires a strong economic foundation, national solidarity, and social unity, together with effective institutions and a clear strategic vision.”
She added that the seminar reflects a shared commitment to advancing science, technology, innovation, industry, and trade in Cambodia, supporting the country’s transition toward a digital government and digital society, while ensuring resilient, sustainable, and inclusive development.
The NA President also expressed confidence that participants would actively engage in discussions to examine achievements, identify gaps, and explore solutions to transform current challenges into opportunities for more effective policymaking and strategic implementation.
The seminar was jointly organised by the Commission 9 of the NA and the Senate, in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
The event was held at a time when the world faces growing instability and conflicts that have disrupted global supply chains in sectors such as energy, industry, agriculture, food security, and aviation.
Cambodia is also confronting armed aggression involving heavy weaponry from Thailand against its sovereignty and territorial integrity, which has had serious implications for national security and economic stability.
Under such circumstances, Samdech Khuon stressed that members of parliament and leaders of relevant ministries must remain vigilant and carefully consider comprehensive solutions to guide Cambodia forward with confidence through a clear national vision and strategic direction.
She raised a key question for participants: “How can we transform the challenges we face today into opportunities and sources of national resilience?”
Samdech Khuon Sudary called on the seminar to examine this issue in depth and propose practical solutions that can deliver meaningful results for the nation.
Despite regional tensions and global uncertainty, the Royal Government of Cambodia continues to prioritise political stability, national security, and macroeconomic stability.
Ongoing efforts include strengthening social protection, enforcing the rule of law, controlling inflation, advancing reforms, and improving governance.
The government is also focusing on modernising public administration, enhancing merit-based human resource management, improving the investment climate, strengthening education quality, developing human capital, and expanding technical and digital skills training.
Cambodia is strengthening its economic capacity as it prepares to graduate from Least Developed Country (LDC) status by 2029, while pursuing its national vision of becoming an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050.
