Ministry of Justice, UN Discuss Judicial Cooperation
AKP Phnom Penh, March 19, 2026 -- The Ministry of Justice of Cambodia and the United Nations Resident Coordinator have discussed cooperation in the legal and judicial sectors.
The discussion took place between H.E. Koeut Rith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, and H.E. Ms. Vladanka Andreeva, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Cambodia, at the Ministry on Mar. 18.
During the meeting, both sides discussed cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and various UN agencies, including OHCHR, UNICEF, UNDP, and UNODC.
The dialogue focused on several key areas, such as juvenile justice, prison overcrowding, anti-drug efforts, and the fights against technology-based scams.
Both sides also touched upon the situation along the Cambodian-Thai border, which has significantly impacted the livelihoods of local people.
H.E. Koeut Rith expressed his gratitude to UN agencies for their ongoing support and cooperation with the Royal Government of Cambodia, particularly the Ministry of Justice, for the benefit of the Cambodian people.
H.E. Minister highlighted several challenges in addressing these tasks, emphasising the importance of support and participation from collaborative partners.
For her part, H.E. Ms. Vladanka Andreeva expressed her pleasure in returning to work in Cambodia in her new role as the UN Resident Coordinator and pledged to maintain the broadest possible cooperation with the Ministry to address the above-said issues.
She also confirmed that her team would explore possibilities for providing support to displaced persons through relevant UN agencies.
