Cambodia, Russia Explore New Areas for Broader Bilateral Cooperation
AKP Phnom Penh, August 24, 2026 —
H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, received H.E. Andrey Rudenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, at the Ministry on Monday morning.
H.E. Andrey Rudenko is currently in Cambodia to co-chair the Third Session of the Cambodia-Russia Bilateral Political Consultations later on Monday.
During the meeting, H.E. Prak Sokhonn recalled the recent fruitful meeting between Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and H.E. Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, held on June 18, 2026, in Kazan, Russia.
The Deputy Prime Minister also recalled his recent productive exchanges with H.E. Ms. Oksana Lut, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC), in June 2026, as well as with H.E. Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, in Manila last month.
H.E. Prak Sokhonn expressed deep appreciation for the longstanding relations and growing cooperation between Cambodia and Russia over the past seven decades, particularly as the two countries commemorate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.
Both sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in priority areas, including politics, trade and investment, and people-to-people exchanges.
They also exchanged views on promoting closer collaboration within regional and international frameworks, including the United Nations.
