AKP Phnom Penh, August 25, 2026 -- H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Ms. Maha Damaj, newly appointed Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to Cambodia, at the ministry on Tuesday morning.

The courtesy call was made on the occasion of Ms. Maha Damaj’s presentation of credentials.

H.E. Prak Sokhonn warmly congratulated Ms. Maha Damaj on her appointment and assured her of the Royal Government of Cambodia’s full support and cooperation throughout her tenure.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the longstanding partnership between Cambodia and UNICEF spanning more than seven decades, as well as UNICEF’s continued contribution to advancing the rights, protection, development and well-being of Cambodian children.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the implementation of UNICEF’s Country Programme 2024-2028, with a focus on health and nutrition, quality education, child protection, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and child-sensitive public financing.

These priority areas are closely aligned with Cambodia’s efforts to strengthen human capital development and promote inclusive and resilient development.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in promoting and protecting children’s rights, expanding access to quality and inclusive education and health services, strengthening child protection systems, and mobilising sustainable resources to further improve the lives and well-being of Cambodian children.
