The Phnom Penh Capital Administration will arrange 600 buses to provide free transportation for people travelling from Phnom Penh to their hometowns and returning to the capital during the upcoming Pchum Ben traditional festival.

The service will be available for five days from Oct. 9 to 13, 2026, following the guidance of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, during the plenary cabinet meeting held here this morning, to help ease people's travel expenses during the festival.

According to a notice from the Phnom Penh Capital Administration, the 600 buses will be arranged for both daily public transportation services in Phnom Penh and free travel to and from people's hometowns during Pchum Ben.

Of the total, 100 buses will continue providing daily public transportation services in Phnom Penh, including the Techo International Airport Express Bus service.

The remaining 500 buses will be used to transport people from Phnom Penh to their hometowns and back, with the services organised along six major routes covering different destinations.

The free bus arrangement is intended to reduce the financial burden on citizens while providing safe and convenient transportation for those travelling to reunite with their families and observe traditional Pchum Ben customs.

The initiative will allow people to travel to their hometowns without having to pay transportation fares during the five-day service period.

Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet also conveyed his greetings and appreciation to all armed forces personnel serving both at the frontlines and inside the country for fulfilling their duties in the national interest and for the people.

The Royal Government has annually provided free bus services during major traditional holidays, including Pchum Ben and Khmer New Year, as part of efforts to help reduce people's travel expenses.
