DPM Sun Chanthol Highlights Cambodia’s Investment Potential at Beijing Seminar
AKP Phnom Penh, June 27, 2026 --
Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), on Saturday presided over and delivered a keynote address at the Cambodia Investment Seminar during his official working visit to Beijing, China.
Held at the China World Summit Wing Hotel under the theme “Deepening Bilateral Ties: Unlocking Cambodia’s Industrial Potential and New Business Opportunities,” the event was jointly organised by the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in China and the CDC. It attracted a large number of Chinese investors, business leaders and representatives of major international corporations.
Accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister were H.E. Dr. Soeung Rathchavy, Cambodian Ambassador to China; H.E. Kong Viman, Secretary General of the CDC; and other senior CDC officials.
In his remarks, H.E. Sun Chanthol highlighted Cambodia’s socio-economic achievements under the leadership of the Royal Government, emphasising political stability, peace, and an investor-friendly environment supported by attractive incentives under the Kingdom’s investment law.
He also underscored the significance of the meeting between Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Chinese President Xi Jinping on June 26, describing it as a testament to the enduring “ironclad” friendship between the two countries. He noted that both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future in the New Era for the mutual benefit of their peoples.
The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated Cambodia’s commitment to providing effective aftercare services for investors through mechanisms such as the Government-Private Sector Forum (G-PSF), the Public-Private Sector Dialogue (PPSD), and the Public-Private Sector Breakfast Briefing, which facilitate close cooperation between government institutions and the business community.
The seminar also featured presentations from executives of major Chinese companies operating in Cambodia, including China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), QILU Special Economic Zone, Huawei Cambodia, the Global Logistics Alliance (GLA), and Yunnan Construction and Investment. The speakers shared their experiences and highlighted opportunities in infrastructure, special economic zones, technology, logistics, and strategic investment projects.
An interactive question-and-answer session allowed Chinese investors and business representatives to seek clarifications directly from the Deputy Prime Minister and CDC officials on investment opportunities and policies.
The event concluded successfully, reflecting strong cooperation between the CDC and the Cambodian Embassy in China in advancing economic diplomacy and promoting bilateral investment and trade ties. It also underscored Cambodia’s ambition to attract a new wave of Chinese investment, particularly in high-tech, high value-added, and green energy industries, in line with the Royal Government’s Pentagonal Strategy.
